Romania Stuns Ukraine in EURO 2008 Opener
Romania produced a stunning performance to defeat Ukraine 2-0 in their opening match of UEFA EURO 2008.
Goals from Adrian Mutu and Ciprian Marica gave Romania a deserved victory in Zurich, Switzerland. Romania dominated possession and created the better chances throughout the match, and they were good value for their win.
Ukraine had their moments, but they were unable to find a way past the Romania defense. Romania goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont made a number of important saves to keep Ukraine at bay.
The win gives Romania a great start to their EURO 2008 campaign. They will now face the Netherlands in their next match on June 13.
